An award is only as credible as its ballot box. iFANN treats voting integrity as core infrastructure: every vote is screened by layered automated systems, suspicious activity is audited by humans, and manipulated votes are voided before they can touch a result. Final tallies count valid votes only.
This page describes those protections at the level the public should know them. iFANN does not publish the exact detection thresholds, for the same reason banks do not publish their fraud rules, but the principles, the consequences, and the accountability are all stated here.
One person, one voting identity
Votes are tied to a single account or verified guest session, never both, and each category enforces its own voting rules on top of that identity. Creating duplicate identities to multiply votes is detected and treated as manipulation.
Where categories use earned voting tickets, tickets are tracked individually from the moment they are earned to the moment they are spent, so every additional vote has a recorded, legitimate origin.
Automated screening
Every vote is recorded with integrity signals, including device fingerprints and network indicators, and screened against patterns that distinguish genuine fan behavior from automation: impossible speed, coordinated identical activity, scripted repetition, and traffic that does not behave like a human. High risk actions face additional challenges before the vote is accepted.
Screening runs continuously during the voting window, not just at the end, so manipulation is caught while it happens rather than after standings have been distorted for days.
Human review and voided votes
Automation flags; people decide. Suspicious voting clusters go to a review log where staff examine the evidence and rule on it, and every ruling is recorded. Votes determined to be fraudulent are voided: they are removed from tallies and excluded from fan point calculations under the published methodology.
Voiding is surgical. A manipulated cluster is removed without punishing the genuine fans of the same nominee, and a nominee is never penalized for a third party's misconduct beyond losing votes that were never legitimate. Aggregate figures on voided votes appear in iFANN's transparency reporting.
What is banned outright
Buying or selling votes, in any form, including paying for vote farms or offering rewards for proof of voting. Automation of any kind, including bots, scripts, emulators, and click farms. Creating multiple identities to vote repeatedly. Exploiting any technical fault to cast or multiply votes.
Violations lead to voided votes and can lead to account restriction. Where organized manipulation is detected around a nominee, iFANN reviews the affected category before results are finalized, so no result is announced on tainted numbers.
Why this matters to the result
Fan points in the final score are calculated from each finalist's share of all valid votes. Because invalid votes are removed before that calculation, manipulation cannot buy fan points, and the 60 percent of every result that belongs to fans belongs to real ones. The Editorial Review stage is protected separately: board members submit rankings through their own authenticated accounts, are bound to make independent judgments without using the visible public standings as a guide, and keep their individual ballots confidential.
