Mr. Satan

Mr. Satan was born in Orange Star City, growing up as a fan of martial arts and pro wrestling. He trained in a dojo that emphasized flashy moves and showmanship over real combat. By the time of the Cell Games, he had already won 24 consecutive World Martial Arts Tournaments, building a reputation as Earth's strongest fighter. The public adored him for his charismatic speeches and dramatic entrances, unaware that his victories came from fighting normal humans, not the superpowered beings he'd later encounter.[edit]

Mr. Satan is overwhelmingly arrogant, boastful, and obsessed with his public image. He craves adoration and will go to great lengths to maintain his heroic facade, including outright lies and bribery. Beneath the bluster, however, he has a genuine capacity for kindness and loyalty. He forms a deep bond with Majin Buu, treating him with warmth and patience. He also loves his daughter Videl fiercely, even when he doesn't understand her choices. His cowardice is real, he panics in genuine danger, but when pushed, he can show surprising courage, as when he stood up to Kid Buu to buy Goku time.[edit]

Mr. Satan's journey begins as a fraud who accidentally becomes the world's hero. During the Cell Saga, he claims credit for Cell's defeat, a lie the Z-Fighters allow to stand. In the Majin Buu Saga, he initially tries to fight Buu and fails spectacularly. But when Buu spares him, Mr. Satan befriends the creature, teaching him about video games, friendship, and even how to fly. This kindness causes Buu to expel his evil side, creating Kid Buu. Mr. Satan then helps Goku by delivering a heartfelt speech that distracts Kid Buu long enough for the Spirit Bomb to land. After the battle, the good Buu moves into his mansion, and Mr. Satan becomes a father figure to him. In Dragon Ball Super, he provides comic relief during the Tournament of Power, where he is quickly eliminated but enjoys the spectacle. By Dragon Ball GT, he is an elderly man still basking in his fabricated glory, but his friendship with Buu remains his most genuine achievement.[edit]
