    Overview

Serialization began on May 19, 2011 in the seinen magazine Ultra Jump and concluded on August 19, 2021. This eighth main arc spans 27 collected volumes published under Shueisha's Jump Comics imprint. The story transports readers to Morioh Town in 2011, a coastal community still reeling from the aftermath of the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Hirohiko Araki shifted the setting to modern Japan to ground the surreal elements of the narrative within real-world tragedy.

The plot centers on Josuke Higashikata, a young man who wakes up with no memory of his past or how he arrived at the site of a mysterious accident. His quest to piece together his identity drags him into a tangled web involving an adoptive family and strange biological anomalies known as Locacaca fruits. These sentient organisms grant bizarre abilities to those who consume them while simultaneously acting as parasitic threats to the local population.

Unlike previous entries in the franchise, this volume blends mystery thriller elements with supernatural action. It explores themes of fluid identity and the ethics of genetic modification through the lens of body horror. The series received the Grand Prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Awards in 2022 and ranked 45th in Da Vinci magazine's Book of the Year Manga Ranking for December 2021.
