Overview
Hirohiko Araki's Stone Ocean marks the sixth chapter of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, shifting the setting from the streets of Italy to the confines of Green Dolphin Street Prison in Florida. Serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump between December 1999 and April 2003, this arc spans 17 tankōbon volumes and roughly 1,500 pages. The narrative centers on Jolyne Cujoh, the estranged daughter of previous protagonist Jotaro Kujo, who faces a fifteen-year sentence for a murder she did not commit after being framed by a corrupt attorney.
Upon entering the prison, Jolyne discovers her father is already incarcerated within its walls, though his Stand ability and memories have been stolen by Pucci, a devoted follower of Dio Brando. Armed only with her own awakened Stand, Stone Free, which allows her to unravel her body into thread-like strings, she navigates the brutal hierarchy of inmates and guards. The story evolves into a desperate struggle against fate as Pucci attempts to accelerate time using the Stand Made Heaven, forcing Jolyne and her allies to fight for survival against overwhelming odds.
