Luke Skywalker was born on Polis Massa in 19 BBY, moments after his mother Padmé Amidala died. His father, Anakin Skywalker, had recently fallen to the dark side and become Darth Vader. To protect him from the Empire, Obi-Wan Kenobi delivered the infant to his aunt Beru and uncle Owen Lars on Tatooine. Luke grew up as a moisture farmer, unaware of his Jedi heritage, but longing for adventure beyond the twin suns.

His life changed when he purchased droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, which carried a message from Princess Leia. This led him to Obi-Wan, who began his training in the Force. When Ben falls to the dark side and destroys the academy, Luke blames himself and exiles himself to Ahch-To, believing the Jedi should end.

The sequel trilogy shows his reluctant return. He initially refuses to train Rey but eventually teaches her about the Force's balance. His final act is a Force projection across the galaxy to confront Kylo Ren, buying time for the Resistance.
