Hassan Rouhani, born Hassan Fereydoun on 12 November 1948 in Sorkheh, Iran, is a politician, diplomat, and cleric who served as the seventh president of Iran from 2013 to 2021. A sharia lawyer and academic, he also held key positions in Iran's governance structure, including membership in the Assembly of Experts (1999–2024), the Expediency Council (1991–2013), and the Supreme National Security Council (1989–2021).
