Ezio Auditore da Firenze

Born on June 24, 1459, in Florence, Ezio Auditore da Firenze grew up as the privileged son of Giovanni Auditore, a wealthy banker and secret Assassin. His early life was one of leisure, flirting with women, dueling in the streets, and enjoying the privileges of nobility. In 1476, his world collapsed when his father and brothers Federico and Petruccio were falsely accused of treason and publicly hanged as part of the Pazzi conspiracy, orchestrated by the Templar Order. Escaping with his mother and sister Claudia, Ezio fled to the Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni, where his uncle Mario revealed the family's Assassin heritage. Mario trained him in combat and the Assassin's Creed, setting Ezio on a path of vengeance that would ultimately become a lifelong crusade for freedom.[edit]

Ezio is defined by a sharp contrast between youthful brashness and mature wisdom. As a young man, he is charming, impulsive, and quick to anger, a hotheaded Florentine who relies on instinct and charisma. He loves life: wine, women, and the thrill of a fight. But tragedy tempers him. Over the decades, he becomes introspective, philosophical, and deeply loyal to his cause. He values family above all, often risking everything to protect those he loves. Ezio's journey is a three-act epic spanning over 30 years. In Assassin's Creed II, he transforms from a vengeful noble into a skilled Assassin, tracking down the Templars who destroyed his family. He allies with Leonardo da Vinci, gains the hidden blades, and eventually confronts Pope Alexander VI, Rodrigo Borgia, beneath the Vatican. In Brotherhood, now a seasoned Mentor, he rebuilds the Assassin guild in Rome after the Borgia attack on Monteriggioni kills his uncle Mario. He leads a guerrilla war against Cesare Borgia, culminating in Cesare's defeat at the siege of Viana in 1507. In Revelations, an aging Ezio travels to Constantinople to unlock Altaïr's library beneath Masyaf. He uncovers the Apple of Eden and, having found closure, retires from the Assassin Order. The short film Embers shows his final years as a husband and father in Tuscany. Ezio Auditore is widely considered one of the greatest video game characters ever created. IGN, GameSpot, and Empire have all ranked him near the top of their lists, praising his emotional depth and evolution over three games. His catchphrase 'Requiescat in pace' became synonymous with the series. The character's design, white robes, hidden blades, and iconic hood, is instantly recognizable and heavily cosplayed. His story arc, spanning youth to old age, is often cited as a benchmark for character development in gaming.
