Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha was born into the prestigious Uchiha clan, one of Konoha's founding families, known for their powerful Sharingan. As a young child, he lived a peaceful life with his parents, Fugaku and Mikoto, and his older brother Itachi, whom he deeply admired. That changed on the night of the Uchiha clan massacre. Itachi, acting under orders from Konoha's elders to prevent a coup, killed every member of the clan except Sasuke. He spared Sasuke with a chilling promise: 'You're not worth killing. You're my little brother, and I'll always love you... That's why I'll never lay a hand on you. I'll always be there for you. It's the only way. You'll never have to forgive me. No matter what you become, I will love you forever.' This event left Sasuke traumatized and driven by a single goal: to kill Itachi and avenge his family.[edit]

Sasuke is defined by his brooding, aloof demeanor, a direct result of the trauma he endured. He is highly intelligent, fiercely determined, and often cold and distant, especially toward those who try to get close. His obsession with revenge consumes him, leading him to push away friends like Naruto and Sakura. He values strength above all, believing power is the only way to achieve his goals. Sasuke's development spans the entire Naruto series. In the Land of Waves Arc, he begins forming bonds with Naruto and Sakura, even risking his life to protect them. The Chunin Exams Arc introduces the Curse Mark from Orochimaru and his first major clash with Naruto at the Valley of the End, where he leaves Konoha to seek power. During the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, he succumbs to the Curse Mark and defeats Naruto, severing their bond. In Naruto Shippuden, he trains under Orochimaru for three years, then kills him. He forms Team Hebi (later Taka) to hunt Itachi. The Itachi Pursuit Arc ends with their final battle, where Itachi dies of illness, but not before transferring his power to Sasuke and revealing the truth: Itachi was a double agent protecting the village. This shatters Sasuke, who then vows to destroy Konoha. He allies with the Akatsuki, captures the Eight-Tails, and fights the Five Kage. In the Fourth Great Ninja War Arc, he is revived by the Edo Tensei Hokage, learns the full history of the ninja world, and ultimately switches sides to protect the village. His final battle with Naruto at the Valley of the End results in both losing an arm, and Sasuke finally admits defeat and returns to Konoha. Sasuke consistently ranks in the top three in official Naruto popularity polls, often competing with Naruto and Kakashi. He is one of the most iconic anime characters, frequently referenced as the archetype of the brooding rival. His catchphrases, hairstyle, and dark aesthetic have inspired countless cosplays, fan art, and merchandise. Critics have praised his complex arc but sometimes criticized his angsty phase; however, his mature role in Boruto earned widespread acclaim.
