Beerus is the God of Destruction for Universe 7, a role he has held for millions of years. His duty is to destroy planets and civilizations that have outlived their usefulness, maintaining cosmic balance alongside the creative Supreme Kais. He was born with immense power and trained under the angel Whis, who serves as his attendant and martial arts teacher. Beerus's love for food often drives his actions, and he has destroyed planets for serving him bad cuisine.

His awakening from a long slumber, triggered by a premonition of a powerful opponent, sets the events of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods in motion. Beerus's search for the Super Saiyan God brings him to Earth, where he encounters Goku and the other Z fighters for the first time. [edit]

Beerus is a complex deity driven by whims and appetites. He is often lazy and easily bored, but his mood can shift dramatically when food is involved. Despite his destructive role, he is not purely evil; he respects strength and has a sense of honor.
