Zak Zakar

The Zakar Twins do not have a trophy cabinet, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. What they have is a body of work that put a specific story into circulation: two gay Middle Eastern identical twins from metro Detroit, telling their own coming-out story in their own words, first as a memoir, then as a stage play, then as a podcast and a newsletter. The Trevor Project interviewed them for MENA Heritage Month in 2023. Out put them in a heritage-month feature the same year. Pride Source, Queerty and Attitude have all covered them at length. For a pair operating without a label, a network or a publicist's budget, that is a genuine record of visibility, and it is the record that matters here.
