Yaacov Agam

Yaacov Agam's career was defined by a singular achievement: he made art move. As one of the founding fathers of kinetic art, he created works that changed as the viewer moved, using layered panels, prisms, and motors to break the static frame. His Agamographs, which shift between images depending on the angle, became his most famous invention, and his public sculptures, like the Fire and Water Fountain in Tel Aviv, brought kinetic art to the streets.Agam's influence is measured in the collections of over 100 museums, including the Guggenheim and the Tate. He was also a dedicated teacher at the Bezalel Academy, passing his ideas to a new generation. The Israel Prize, awarded in 2026, crowned a career that spanned seven decades and reshaped how we think about art and perception.
