Who Framed Roger Rabbit

In 1947 Hollywood, humans and cartoon characters known as Toons live side by side. The city glitters with neon and noir shadows, but beneath the surface runs a current of prejudice and corruption. Private detective Eddie Valiant, a man nursing a whiskey bottle and a grudge against Toons, gets pulled into a case that will force him to confront both.

When the zany star Roger Rabbit is framed for murder, Eddie must team up with the hyperactive Toon to clear his name. The investigation winds through seedy bars, backlot studios, and the psychedelic streets of Toontown. Along the way Eddie encounters Jessica Rabbit, the sultry singer who is not as bad as she is drawn, and Judge Doom, a chilling figure with a plan to destroy Toontown with a chemical weapon called Dip.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg, the film was a technical marvel that seamlessly blended live-action with hand-drawn animation. Eddie Valiant, once a respected private eye, now drowns his sorrows in a bottle. His brother Teddy was killed by a Toon, and Eddie has hated them ever since. He takes only the most mundane cases, avoiding anything to do with the animated world.

R.K. Maroon, head of Maroon Cartoons, hires Eddie to follow Jessica Rabbit, the wife of his biggest star, Roger Rabbit. Maroon suspects Jessica is having an affair with Marvin Acme, the jovial owner of Acme Corporation and landlord of Toontown. Eddie reluctantly snaps photos of Jessica playing patty-cake with Acme, a game that looks innocent but is scandalous in Toon culture.

When Roger sees the photos, he goes into a frenzy, leaving a Roger-shaped hole in the wall and disappearing. The next morning, Marvin Acme is found dead, crushed under a safe. The evidence points to Roger, and Judge Doom, the terrifying magistrate of Toontown, vows to catch him and administer the Dip, a lethal mixture that erases Toons permanently.

Eddie is drawn deeper into the mystery when Roger shows up at his office, begging for help. Despite his hatred for Toons, Eddie agrees to take the case. They follow a trail of clues that leads to the Acme factory, a seedy nightclub, and the dark corners of Hollywood. Along the way Eddie discovers a conspiracy to buy up Toontown and tear it down for a freeway. The mastermind is none other than Judge Doom, who is not what he seems.

As Eddie gets closer to the truth, he must confront his own prejudices and learn to trust a Toon. The case becomes a race against time to save Roger from the Dip and to stop Doom from destroying Toontown forever.[edit]
