Uthman ibn Affan's greatest accolade is the universal recognition by Muslims as the compiler of the authoritative Quranic text. His title Dhū al-Nurayn is unique among the Prophet's companions. He is one of only ten companions explicitly promised Paradise in canonical hadith. As the third Rightly Guided Caliph, his reign is considered a golden era of Islamic expansion and administrative consolidation. His establishment of the first Muslim navy and standardization of weights and measures were pioneering achievements.
