Seidl's career is defined by a series of high-water marks at the world's most demanding festivals. Dog Days earned him the Grand Jury Prize at Venice and the Golden Leopard at Locarno in the same year, a rare double that immediately placed him among the most important European directors of his generation. His Paradise trilogy, completed in 2013, was a decade-long project that produced three films, each premiering at a major festival, with Paradise: Faith winning the Special Jury Prize at Venice. The trilogy is now considered a landmark of 21st-century Austrian cinema, and Seidl's willingness to hold a mirror to uncomfortable social realities has influenced a generation of younger filmmakers across Europe.
