Overview
Origin Story
Thor Odinson is the son of Odin, the All-Father and king of Asgard, and Gaea, the Elder Earth goddess also known as Jord. Odin sought a child who could draw power from both realms, so he fathered Thor with Gaea. Raised in Asgard as the prince and heir, young Thor grew into a brash and arrogant warrior. To teach him humility, Odin stripped him of his memories and banished him to Earth in the form of Dr. Donald Blake, a physically disabled physician.
While visiting Norway in this mortal guise, Blake encountered alien invaders known as the Stone Men from Saturn. Trapped in a cave, he grabbed an old wooden walking stick and struck it against a boulder. In a flash of lightning, Blake transformed into Thor, and the stick became Mjolnir, his enchanted hammer. This event set Thor on a path of heroism. After proving himself, he regained his full memories as Odin's son. He has since protected both Asgard and Earth from countless threats, faced cycles of Ragnarok, served as a founding member of the Avengers, and even ruled Asgard at times.
Personality
Thor began as an arrogant and hot-headed prince who often acted without thinking. His exile to Earth as Donald Blake taught him valuable lessons about humility and the value of mortal lives. Over centuries, he evolved into a wise and reflective protector who balances his duties to Asgard with his deep love for humanity.
He remains a bold warrior who charges into battle with confidence, yet he shows genuine care for his allies and the innocent. His relationships with family, especially his complicated bond with Loki and his respect for Odin, reveal layers of loyalty mixed with frustration. Worthiness stands as a core theme for him. Thor sometimes loses the ability to wield Mjolnir when he fails morally, forcing him to redefine who he is beyond his hammer and title.
