    Stanley Kubrick's contributions to cinema have been recognized with numerous lifetime achievement honors. In 1999, he received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes and the D.W. Griffith Award from the Directors Guild of America. He was awarded the Career Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1997. BAFTA granted him an Academy Fellowship in 1999. Time magazine named him one of the 100 Most Important People of the Century. In 2012, he received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His films frequently appear on greatest-of-all-time lists, with 2001: A Space Odyssey often ranked among the top 10.
