Raj Patel began gaming at a young age, developing a serious dedication to video games that would eventually define his career. Unlike many contemporaries who started streaming casually, Squeex approached gaming competitively from childhood, investing thousands of hours into mastering retro titles. His professional streaming journey began in earnest around 2019, when he started broadcasting consistently on Twitch. During these early years, his viewership was modest, often consisting of single-digit numbers, but he utilized this period to refine his speedrunning techniques and build a foundation in the competitive gaming community.

A pivotal moment in his pre-fame trajectory was his deep specialization in Super Mario 64, where he logged over 3,500 gameplay hours to perfect his route execution and frame-perfect inputs. This niche focus, combined with his comedic and relatable commentary style during "Just Chatting" segments, laid the groundwork for his eventual viral breakout. He spent years grinding through the game's complex mechanics, turning what started as a childhood hobby into a disciplined pursuit of perfection before the wider internet took notice. [edit]

Squeex's career experienced exponential growth between 2022 and 2023. His following began to surge significantly after collaborating with other prominent Twitch streamers, including Mizkif and ExtraEmily, whose collaboration video posted in March 2023 helped expose his content to a broader audience. By mid-2023, he had transitioned from a niche speedrunner to a major content creator, amassing hundreds of thousands of followers.

His career milestones include winning PogChamps 5 in July 2023 alongside Tyler1, Sapnap, and Jarvis, showcasing his versatility beyond just platformers. In December 2025, he achieved a significant personal milestone by completing a 70-star run in Super Mario 64, documented in a YouTube video titled "Every PB Squeex has ever got (70 Stars)." The most defining shift occurred in March 2026, when he collaborated with fellow streamer Valkyrae to announce a new scholarship at NYU's Game Center, marking a move toward educational advocacy within the industry.
