Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Sixteen months after the events of Into the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales is still learning to balance life as Brooklyn's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man with the demands of being a teenager. His parents are worried about his grades, and his secret double life is taking a toll. But when a new threat emerges in the form of the Spot, a scientist transformed into a living portal, Miles finds himself drawn into a conflict that spans the entire multiverse.

Reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Miles discovers the Spider Society, an interdimensional team of Spider-People led by Miguel O'Hara, dedicated to preserving the stability of the multiverse. However, their methods clash with Miles's own beliefs, and he soon realizes that the Society's rigid rules may not be as absolute as they seem. As he fights to protect those he loves, Miles must decide whether to follow the path laid out for him or forge his own.

Miles Morales has settled into his role as Spider-Man, but his parents are concerned about his slipping grades. After missing Spanish class and earning a B, they ground him, unaware of his heroic activities. Meanwhile, Gwen Stacy, on her home Earth-65, is on the run from the police, who believe she murdered her friend Peter Parker. She encounters an anachronistic Vulture from a Renaissance-themed universe and is aided by Miguel O'Hara and Jessica Drew, who arrive through portal watches. Gwen's father, Captain Stacy, tries to arrest her, but Miguel reluctantly brings her into the Spider Society.

Back on Earth-1610, Miles confronts the Spot, a former Alchemax scientist whose body was riddled with portals during the first film's collider explosion. The Spot blames Miles for his condition and reveals that the spider that bit Miles originally came from Earth-42, setting up a crucial twist. Miles chases the Spot through Brooklyn, but he escapes.

Gwen visits Miles to reconnect and tells him about the Spider Society, an interdimensional task force that polices the multiverse. Miles wants to join, but Gwen says there are no openings. He secretly follows her through a portal to Earth-50101, where they meet Pavitr Prabhakar, that dimension's Spider-Man, and later Hobie Brown, a punk-rock Spider-Person. Together they confront the Spot, who absorbs the power of a collider and gains immense strength. The Spot shares a vision with Miles of future attacks, including the deaths of his father and Inspector Singh. Miles saves Singh, but this act disrupts a 'Canon Event,' drawing the wrath of Miguel.

Brought to the Spider Society's headquarters in Nueva York, Miles learns about Canon Events, fixed points in every Spider-Person's life that must occur to keep the multiverse stable. One such event is the death of a police captain close to the hero. Miles realizes his father, soon to be promoted, is destined to die. He argues against this fate, but the Society insists it's necessary. Miles escapes, determined to save his father, setting the stage for a climactic confrontation.[edit]
