    Overview

Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales is struggling to connect with his father, Jefferson, a police officer who distrusts his artist uncle, Aaron. Miles also finds it hard to fit into Visions Academy, an elite boarding school. He'd rather be with his friends, skateboarding and listening to music. One night, while visiting his uncle, Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider. He soon discovers he has gained superpowers, including enhanced strength, agility, and the ability to stick to walls. His newfound abilities are put to the test when he stumbles upon Spider-Man battling the Kingpin's super collider, an experiment that threatens to tear apart the fabric of reality.

During the confrontation, the original Spider-Man is killed by Kingpin, but not before he implores Miles to embrace his destiny. Kingpin's collider, however, succeeds in its catastrophic mission, pulling several other Spider-People from alternate dimensions into Miles's world. These include an older, jaded Peter B. Parker; the fierce Gwen Stacy; the noir-inspired Spider-Man Noir; the anime-influenced Peni Parker; and the cartoonish Spider-Ham. Miles, overwhelmed and doubting his capabilities, must learn to harness his unique powers and work with these unlikely allies to stop Kingpin and send everyone home before their universe collapses.

Miles Morales, a 14-year-old of African-American and Puerto Rican heritage, feels out of place in his Brooklyn neighborhood and at his elite boarding school, Visions Academy. His father, Jefferson, a police officer, wants him to focus on his studies, while his Uncle Aaron, a musician, encourages Miles's artistic side. Miles struggles to reconcile his father's expectations with his own desires, and the strained relationship with his dad is amplified by Jefferson's disapproval of Aaron.

While exploring an abandoned subway tunnel with Aaron, Miles is bitten by a spider that had been exposed to radiation from one of Kingpin's secret experiments. He begins to experience strange new abilities: sticking to surfaces, enhanced senses, and uncontrollable bio-electric shocks. Drawn back to the tunnel, Miles witnesses Spider-Man (Peter B. Parker) battling Kingpin's forces, including the Prowler, who turns out to be his Uncle Aaron. During the fight, Peter B. Parker is mortally wounded by Kingpin, but not before he gives Miles some crucial advice about being a hero and warns him about the super collider.

Kingpin's super collider activates, creating rifts in spacetime and pulling multiple Spider-People from parallel universes into Miles's dimension. These include Peter B. Parker, a washed-up version of the hero; Gwen Stacy, or Spider-Woman; Spider-Man Noir, a gritty detective from the 1930s; Peni Parker, a young girl piloting a giant robot; and Spider-Ham, a cartoon pig superhero. The group, initially distrustful and fractured, must band together to shut down the collider before it destroys their realities.

Miles grapples with his emerging powers and the immense responsibility thrust upon him. He's particularly affected by the death of his Uncle Aaron, who, after discovering Miles's identity as Spider-Man, was killed by Kingpin for hesitating to complete his mission. This tragedy fuels Miles's determination. He learns that his own powers are unique, including invisibility and a potent venom blast, which he must master. The film builds toward a climactic showdown where Miles, embracing his individuality and the lessons learned from his fellow Spider-People, confronts Kingpin, determined to save his city and prove that anyone can be a hero.
