Satyajit Ray's achievements in cinema are historic. He is the only Indian to win top prizes at all three major European film festivals: Cannes, Venice, and Berlin. His record of 37 Indian National Film Awards remains unmatched. He received the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, and an Academy Honorary Award for his lifetime contribution to cinema. In 2024, Forbes ranked him the 8th greatest film director of all time. The International Film Festival of India renamed its lifetime achievement award after him in 2021.
