Richard John Neuhaus

Richard John Neuhaus's greatest achievements were intellectual. He founded First Things, a journal that shaped conservative religious thought for nearly two decades. His book The Naked Public Square remains a standard reference in debates about secularism and religion. He co-founded Evangelicals and Catholics Together, a landmark ecumenical initiative. His influence on American public life was so profound that he was widely regarded as the most influential Catholic in America from his conversion in 1990 until his death in 2009.
