Rhaenys Targaryen

Born in 74 AC to Prince Aemon Targaryen and Lady Jocelyn Baratheon, Rhaenys was the granddaughter of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and a direct heir to the Iron Throne. At the Great Council of 101 AC, held at Harrenhal, Jaehaerys bypassed her claim in favor of her male cousin Viserys, setting a precedent against female succession. This decision defined her life. She married Lord Corlys Velaryon, the famed explorer known as the Sea Snake, and became the matriarch of House Velaryon, one of the wealthiest houses in Westeros.[edit]

The second sees her emerge as a key supporter of Rhaenyra Targaryen, despite their earlier rivalry. During the Driftmark succession crisis, she advocates for her grandson Lucerys Velaryon. The third act is the Dance of the Dragons. In a pivotal moment, she bursts through the Dragonpit floor on Meleys, confronting the Greens but choosing to spare them to avoid immediate war. Her final act comes at the Battle of Rook's Rest, where she is ambushed by Aegon II and Aemond Targaryen. In a suicidal charge, she attacks the massive dragon Vhagar, mortally wounding Aegon and Sunfyre before being killed.
