Peter Doherty's achievements are extraordinary. He is one of only a handful of Australians to have won a Nobel Prize in science, and his discovery of MHC restriction is a cornerstone of modern immunology. His work has directly influenced vaccine development and our understanding of autoimmune diseases. The Nobel Prize, the Lasker Award, and his national honors place him among the most accomplished scientists of his generation.
