Osman I is universally referred to as Osman Gazi (Warrior for the Faith) in Turkish tradition. The Ottoman dynasty and empire were named after him (House of Osman, Osmanlı). He is recognized as the founder of one of history's longest-lasting empires (c. 1299–1922). His tomb in Bursa remains a significant historical site. Modern Turkey commemorates him through statues, street names, and historical reenactments.
