Overview
In 1999, George Lucas returned to the galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, a film that reimagined the saga's origins. The story introduces Anakin Skywalker, a young slave on Tatooine who possesses an unusual connection to the Force. At the same time, the Sith have resurfaced after a thousand years of hiding, setting a trap for the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. Liam Neeson stars as the wise Qui-Gon Jinn, while Ewan McGregor plays his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi. Natalie Portman brings depth to Queen Padmé Amidala, and Jake Lloyd portrays the child Anakin. Ian McDiarmid appears as the cunning Senator Palpatine.
