Mohammed Hussein Heikal

Mohammed Hussein Heikal's greatest achievement was earning the Habilitation from the Sorbonne University in Paris, making him the first Egyptian, Arab, Middle Easterner, and African to attain that highest academic qualification. His novel Zaynab, published in 1914, is celebrated as the first Arabic novel, a foundational text that opened the door for the novel form across the Arab world.
