Miguel de la Madrid

Miguel de la Madrid's legacy is defined by his leadership during one of Mexico's most difficult economic periods. He is credited with saving Mexico from total economic collapse through painful but necessary reforms, despite the social cost. His role in navigating the debt crisis and initiating the shift toward market-oriented economics marks him as a pivotal figure in modern Mexican history. While controversial due to the social impact of his policies and the erosion of democratic trust following the 1988 election, his contribution to the country's economic transformation remains a subject of intense study and debate.
