Marion Dönhoff's career was marked by extraordinary integrity and influence. She was one of the first women to hold a top editorial position in post-war Germany, breaking barriers in a male-dominated field. Her 56 years at Die Zeit made her one of the longest-serving journalists in the country's history, and her writings on German guilt and reconciliation helped shape the nation's moral compass. She was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 1971, one of the most prestigious honors in German letters, and the Freedom of Speech Award in 1994. Her legacy is honored through the Marion Dönhoff Prize, which continues to recognize outstanding journalism.
