Lin Biao's military record stands as one of the most significant in modern Chinese history. As one of the Ten Marshals, he led the campaigns that secured Communist victory in the north and paved the way for the founding of the PRC. His designation as Mao's successor marked the height of his political influence, making him the second most powerful man in China at the time. Despite his eventual disgrace, his contributions to the revolution remain a subject of intense historical study.
