Records
Lav Diaz is one of the most decorated Filipino filmmakers in history. He is the only Filipino director to win the Golden Lion at Venice, the highest prize at a major international film festival. His win with The Woman Who Left in 2016 marked a historic first for Philippine cinema. He has also won the Golden Leopard at Locarno and the Alfred Bauer Prize at Berlin, making him one of the few directors to achieve top honors at three of the world's most prestigious film festivals. His films have been included in the Sight & Sound Greatest Films of All Time polls, cementing his legacy as a master of slow cinema.
