Lao She's legacy is marked by his profound influence on Chinese literature and theater. He is consistently ranked among the most significant Chinese writers of the 20th century. His novel Rickshaw Boy has been adapted into multiple films, and Teahouse is considered the most famous modern Chinese play, performed continuously since its 1958 premiere. His pioneering work in science fiction with Cat Country has also been recognized. The establishment of the Lao She Literary Prize in 1999 and the Lao She Memorial Museum in Beijing further cement his enduring impact.
