Kim Il-sung's achievements are defined by his unprecedented longevity in power and the creation of a unique ideological system. He served as the head of state for over 45 years, a record among non-royal leaders in the 20th century. His development of the Juche ideology created a distinct political framework that separated North Korea from orthodox Marxism-Leninism while maintaining close ties to the Soviet bloc. He was the first person to be declared "Eternal President" of a nation, a posthumous title that remains constitutionally enshrined. His influence extended globally through his role in the Cold War and his support for various liberation movements.
