First drummer to use double bass drums in rock
Along with Ginger Baker, Moon was one of the earliest rock drummers to regularly employ double bass drums in his setup, expanding the rhythmic possibilities of rock music.
Largest drum kit in rock at the time
Moon's kit grew to include at least 10 tom-toms, twin bass drums, twin timpani, a snare, half a dozen cymbals, and a gong, making it the largest in rock during the 1970s.
