Records
Karim Aïnouz has built an extraordinary track record on the international festival circuit. His 2019 film The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão won the Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes, the section's top award, and went on to collect more than 50 prizes worldwide, a rare feat for a Brazilian film. That same film was Brazil's official submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. His documentary Central Airport THF won the Amnesty International Film Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2018. Aïnouz's films have screened in competition at Cannes, Venice, and Berlin, making him one of the few directors to have competed at all three major European festivals.
