Juan Montalvo

Though Montalvo never received institutional recognition, his work earned the profound respect of some of the most important writers of the Spanish-speaking world. Jorge Luis Borges, who was notoriously selective in his praise, considered Montalvo a master of the essay. Miguel de Unamuno, the Spanish philosopher and writer, also admired his style and ideas.
