Hong Xiuquan's legacy is marked by his role in launching the Taiping Rebellion, which reshaped 19th-century China. The rebellion is considered the second deadliest war in history, with 20-30 million deaths. In 2009, Xinhua News Agency ranked him #45 among the 100 people who changed China. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences ranked him the greatest Chinese peasant rebel leader. His theological writings are preserved in the British Library's Endangered Archives Programme.

AwardsHong Xiuquan received no formal awards during his lifetime. The Qing Dynasty considered him a rebel. Posthumously, the Chinese Communist Party recognized him as a progressive historical figure in 1983. A memorial hall opened in Huadu in 2001, and his former residence was designated a Major Historical and Cultural Site in 1988.
