Brundtland's achievements are historic in multiple ways. She was Norway's first female prime minister and its youngest, a double milestone that broke barriers for women in politics worldwide. Her 1986 cabinet set a global record for female representation, with women holding nearly half the ministerial posts.The Brundtland Report remains her most enduring contribution. It shaped the concept of sustainable development that now underpins international environmental policy. Her leadership at the WHO produced the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, a landmark in global health. She has been honored with the Charlemagne Prize, the Indira Gandhi Prize, and the Albert Einstein Peace Prize, among others.
