George Pell's ecclesiastical career was marked by high offices and honors. He was created a cardinal in 2003, one of the highest titles in the Catholic Church. He received the Centenary Medal and was named a Companion of the Order of Australia. As a theologian, he contributed to church debates and held influential positions at the Vatican. His legacy, however, is complicated by the abuse allegations that emerged later in his life.
