Geoffrey Hinton's list of honors is extraordinary by any measure. He is one of a very small number of researchers to have won both the ACM Turing Award and the Nobel Prize. His 2018 Turing Award was shared with two of his former students, a rare testament to his mentorship. The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics marked the first time the prize was awarded for work in artificial intelligence. He has also received Canada's highest scientific honor, the Gerhard Herzberg Gold Medal, and the Royal Medal from the Royal Society. He holds multiple honorary doctorates and is a fellow of the Royal Society, the Royal Society of Canada, and several other prestigious academies.
