    Overview

Persona 6 is the next mainline entry in Atlus's role-playing series, developed by P-Studio and published by Sega. Announced in June 2026 at the Xbox Games Showcase, the game arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. It is the first mainline installment since Persona 2: Eternal Punishment not directed by Katsura Hashino, who left the series in 2016 to establish Studio Zero. Preparatory work began before Persona 5's global launch in 2017, with full production underway by 2021. The teaser trailer featured delightfully creepy imagery and a green color scheme, confirming a long-standing fan theory about the game's primary color. The story follows a fresh cast of high school students in modern-day Japan, balancing daily life with supernatural threats. Gameplay blends turn-based combat, Persona fusion, and social simulation, with every relationship strengthening the protagonist. The game is rated M for mature themes and is available day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

    Gameplay

Persona 6 retains the series' signature turn-based combat, where players command a party of Persona-users against supernatural foes. The iconic Persona fusion system returns, allowing players to create and customize Personas by combining existing ones. Social simulation elements are central: players attend school, form friendships, pursue romance, and engage in part-time jobs. Each relationship boosts the protagonist's abilities and unlocks new combat options. The game uses a calendar system, with days divided into morning, afternoon, and evening segments. Explorations of dungeons, called Palaces or similar, are balanced against daily life. The primary color green is used throughout the UI and visual design, following the series tradition of distinct color coding.

    Story

The narrative centers on a group of high school students in a fictional Japanese city, who awaken to the power of Persona, manifestations of their inner selves, to confront a series of strange rumors and occult incidents. The teaser trailer hinted at a darker tone, with unsettling imagery suggesting themes of urban legends and hidden truths. The protagonist, whose name and gender have not been revealed, must navigate school life while investigating supernatural occurrences. Each party member faces personal struggles that mirror the game's central conflicts. The story is standalone, requiring no prior knowledge of the series. Specific plot details remain under wraps, but the game promises a fresh cast and setting.
