Batistuta's legacy is built on extraordinary scoring feats and unwavering loyalty. He is Fiorentina's all-time leading Serie A scorer with 152 goals, a record that still stands. His nine hat-tricks in Serie A tie him with Gunnar Nordahl and Giuseppe Meazza for the most in history. He held Argentina's national team scoring record with 56 goals for over a decade until Lionel Messi surpassed it. Named to the FIFA 100 by Pelé, he is one of only a handful of players to have a statue erected in their honor while still playing. His decision to stay with Fiorentina after relegation in 1993 remains one of the most celebrated acts of loyalty in football.
