Frodo Baggins

Frodo was born on September 22, 2968 of the Third Age to Drogo Baggins and Primula Brandybuck. When he was twelve, his parents drowned in a boating accident on the Brandywine River. He spent the next nine years living with his maternal family, the Brandybucks, at Brandy Hall in Buckland. At age twenty-one, his older cousin Bilbo Baggins adopted him and brought him to live at Bag End in Hobbiton. Bilbo taught Frodo Elvish languages and took him on long walks; they shared a close bond, calling each other uncle and nephew. At the Council of Elrond, Frodo volunteers to take the One Ring to Mordor to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom. He leads the Fellowship of the Ring, but the group splits after Boromir's betrayal. Frodo decides to continue alone, but Samwise Gamgee insists on accompanying him. They travel through the Dead Marshes, are captured by Faramir's rangers, and eventually guided by Gollum, who leads them to the pass of Cirith Ungol. There, Shelob stings Frodo, and he is captured by orcs. Sam rescues him, and they make their way to Mount Doom. At the Cracks of Doom, Frodo succumbs to the Ring's power and claims it for himself, but Gollum bites off his finger and falls into the lava, destroying the Ring. Frodo is hailed as a hero but is scarred physically and mentally. He returns to the Shire but cannot find peace.
