Bilbo Baggins

Bilbo Baggins serves as the unlikely hero at the center of J.R.R. Tolkien's 1937 novel The Hobbit. A quiet resident of the Shire, he finds himself swept into a grand adventure when the wizard Gandalf recruits him to join Thorin Oakenshield and his band of dwarves. Their goal is bold: reclaim a stolen kingdom and its vast treasure from the dragon Smaug. This journey transforms a comfortable hobbit into a figure of courage and cunning. Bilbo also appears in later works, including The Lord of the Rings, where he acts as a supporting character while narrating much of the lore alongside Frodo Baggins.[edit]
