Fernando Collor de Mello

Fernando Collor de Mello holds a unique and somber place in Brazilian history as the youngest person ever elected president of the country. His tenure marked a pivotal transition from military rule to democracy, yet it is equally remembered for the dramatic collapse of his administration due to corruption. While he did not win traditional accolades, his impact on the political landscape is undeniable. He initiated the creation of Mercosur and hosted the historic Earth Summit, achievements that stand alongside his controversial economic policies and eventual downfall.
