Eugene de Kock

Eugene de Kock's notoriety stems from his role as commander of the apartheid-era death squad C10, not from any accolades. He was convicted on 89 charges, including murder, and sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years. His testimony before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and at the Cradock Four inquest has been significant in uncovering apartheid-era crimes, but it is not a matter of celebration.
