Dwight D. Eisenhower is consistently ranked among the top five U.S. presidents by historians. The C-SPAN Presidential Historians Survey placed him at #5 in 2017, and the Siena College Research Institute ranked him #5 in 2022. He was voted Gallup's Most Admired Man in America 12 times. In 1999, Time magazine included him in its list of the 100 most important people of the 20th century. He received over 50 honorary degrees and numerous international honors for his World War II leadership.

AwardsEisenhower received numerous military and civilian honors. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit. Internationally, he received the UK's Order of the Bath and Order of Merit, France's Legion of Honour and Croix de Guerre, and many others. Civilian awards include the Congressional Gold Medal (1960) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1969, posthumous).
