Chen Jingrun's achievements in number theory earned him a place among the most respected mathematicians of the 20th century. His proof of Chen's theorem was a historic first, bringing the Goldbach conjecture tantalizingly close to a full solution. The Chen Jingrun Prize, established in his name, continues to reward excellence in mathematics, and his work is still studied by number theorists worldwide. His recognition as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the first recipient of the Hua Luogeng Mathematics Award underscore his standing in the field. In 2018, he was posthumously honored by the Chinese government for his contributions to the nation's scientific development.
