Supreme Leader Snoke

Snoke was not born but created. On the hidden Sith world of Exegol, the resurrected Emperor Palpatine oversaw a secret cloning facility. Among the many failed experiments, one strand-cast clone emerged with sufficient dark side sensitivity to serve as a figurehead. Palpatine, operating through proxies, installed this being as Supreme Leader of the First Order, a military junta built from the remnants of the Galactic Empire. Snoke had no true lineage or childhood; his memories and personality were engineered to project ancient wisdom and authority. He was never a genuine dark side master, but a puppet designed to draw the Resistance into a trap while Palpatine prepared his final fleet.[edit]

Snoke cultivated an air of omniscience and cruelty. He spoke in measured, condescending tones, often mocking his subordinates to assert dominance. He took pleasure in psychological manipulation, particularly with Kylo Ren, whom he tormented with doubts about his worth. Snoke was supremely confident in his own abilities, a flaw that led him to underestimate Kylo's capacity for betrayal. He showed no loyalty to anyone, treating even General Hux with open contempt. Snoke first appeared as a hologram in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, commanding Kylo Ren and General Hux from afar. His physical form was revealed later in the film, seated on a massive throne aboard the Supremacy. In The Last Jedi, he took a direct hand in the conflict, torturing Rey and revealing that he had orchestrated the Force bond between her and Kylo. During a confrontation in his throne room, Snoke gloated over his control of Kylo Ren, only to be bisected by Kylo's lightsaber. The act was a turning point, leaving the First Order leaderless. The Rise of Skywalker retroactively revealed Snoke as a clone of Palpatine's design, with tanks full of backup copies visible on Exegol. His revelation as a Palpatine clone in The Rise of Skywalker received mixed reactions; some felt it retroactively diminished his impact, while others considered it a fitting twist that tied the trilogy together.
