Sinestro

Thaal Sinestro was born on the planet Korugar in Sector 1417. He rose through the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps to become the most respected and powerful Lantern of his era, appointed as the designated Lantern for his home sector. The Guardians of the Universe assigned him to train new recruits, including the human Hal Jordan. Sinestro ruled Korugar with an iron fist, using his ring to impose order through fear and oppression. When Hal Jordan discovered Sinestro's tyranny, he reported him to the Guardians. Sinestro was stripped of his ring and banished to the antimatter universe of Qward, where he forged a new yellow power ring fueled by fear, becoming the first wielder of a yellow ring. [edit]

Sinestro is a megalomaniac who believes that fear is the most effective tool for maintaining order. He is supremely confident in his own abilities and views himself as superior to the Guardians and all other Lanterns. His fall from grace did not soften him; instead, it hardened his conviction that willpower alone is insufficient. He is calculating, patient, and ruthless, willing to sacrifice anyone, including his own daughter, to achieve his goals. Sinestro's return from Qward marked the beginning of a long conflict with the Green Lantern Corps. He founded the Sinestro Corps, an army of fear-wielders, and sparked the Sinestro Corps War, a massive crossover event in 2007-2008. During the Blackest Night storyline, Sinestro was temporarily resurrected as a Black Lantern but later restored to life. He became a host for the fear entity Parallax, amplifying his power. In the New 52, Sinestro was forced to ally with Hal Jordan against the Guardians, who had become corrupt. He later regained his yellow ring and rebuilt his Corps. In DC Rebirth, his daughter Soranik Natu, a Green Lantern, discovered his true nature and turned against him.
