    Overview

    Origin Story

Darth Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, a slave boy on Tatooine discovered by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Believed to be the prophesied Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force, Anakin was trained as a Jedi under Obi-Wan Kenobi. He secretly married Senator Padmé Amidala. Lured by Chancellor Palpatine with promises of saving Padmé from death, Anakin turned to the dark side and was renamed Darth Vader. After a duel with Obi-Wan on Mustafar, he was left for dead, horribly burned and dismembered. Palpatine rebuilt him as a cyborg encased in a life-support suit, and Vader served the Emperor for over two decades, hunting Jedi and enforcing Imperial rule.

    Personality

Vader is defined by his rage, discipline, and inner torment. He rules through fear and intimidation, showing no mercy to enemies or subordinates. Yet beneath the mask lies a man consumed by guilt and self-loathing over his fall. He is fiercely loyal to the Emperor, but his attachment to his son Luke eventually reawakens his buried compassion. Vader values power and control, yet his journey is one of redemption through sacrifice.

    Story Arc

Vader's arc spans tragedy and redemption. In the original trilogy, he is the Empire's enforcer, hunting the Rebel Alliance. In The Empire Strikes Back, he reveals his true relationship to Luke Skywalker, setting up his pivotal choice in Return of the Jedi. There, after years of serving evil, he rejects the dark side, kills Emperor Palpatine to save his son, and dies redeemed as Anakin Skywalker. His story is further explored in Rogue One, where he is a merciless killer, and in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which shows his lingering anger toward his former master.
